Frequently asked questions
LIORA Health is a patient advocacy platform that supports women living with chronic conditions before, during, and after their medical appointments.
We believe the most meaningful support in healthcare still comes from real human connection. That’s why LIORA pairs women with trained patient advocates who bring empathy, lived experience, and systems knowledge to help them prepare for visits, navigate complex care, ask informed questions, and understand next steps with confidence.
Our mission is to make healthcare more empowering, more connected, and more human for women who are too often dismissed or underserved.
LIORA supports women and gender-diverse people navigating chronic conditions commonly associated with those assigned female at birth.
We built LIORA because, for all its complexity, the healthcare system, was not designed to care for complex conditions...or women. Decades of exclusion from medical research and systemic underinvestment in women’s health have created a persistent gender care gap. As a result, women are more likely to be misdiagnosed, dismissed, or treated based on male-centric data that fails to reflect their lived experiences.
On top of this, women are more likely to live with chronic conditions, interact frequently with clinicians, and manage care across multiple providers, often with limited time, coordination, or continuity.
This is where advocacy comes in.
LIORA helps bridge gaps where the system falls short by helping individuals prepare for appointments, make sense of medical information, ask informed questions, and feel more confident navigating their care over time.
Supporting women’s health benefits more than the individual: healthier women contribute to healthier families, fewer unnecessary hospitalizations, and a stronger, more resilient workforce.
After completing a short intake survey, you will be matched with a LIORA advocate who best fits your needs. Your advocate will meet with you virtually, join your appointments virtually (via speaker phone), and provide follow-up support tailored to your needs.
Our advocates are real women who bring both professional training and personal understanding to every conversation.
They represent a diverse community of professionals and peers, including nurses, social workers, medical students and residents, dietitians, physical therapists, psychologists, and trained peers with lived experience.
Every advocate completes LIORA’s specialized training program, adapted from nationally recognized patient advocacy standards (including the Patient Advocate Certification Board). The curriculum is reviewed by experienced patient advocates, clinicians, and legal advisors to ensure it’s practical, ethical, and rooted in trauma-informed care.
Whether you’re struggling to get a diagnosis, feeling uncertain about a treatment plan, tired of being bounced around the system and starting over, or simply leaving appointments feeling anxious, dismissed or merely confused, LIORA advocates are here for you.
We commonly support women navigating chronic conditions like endometriosis, PCOS, thyroid disorders, autoimmune disorders, chronic fatigue, dysautonomias, and more. Whatever your women’s health concern, our goal is to make sure you feel heard, respected, and supported every step of the way.
No. LIORA does not diagnose, treat, prescribe, or give any medical advice. Instead, we provide advocacy, guidance, and support to help you navigate your healthcare experiences and make sure your voice is heard.

We know you want to provide the best care possible, but the current system doesn’t always make that easy. Time is limited and patient histories can be complicated. That’s where LIORA comes in.
Our advocates help your patients organize their health information, including past tests, treatments, and referrals, so you both don’t have to start from scratch. LIORA does not provide or challenge your medical advice; instead, we focus on patient preparedness and teach techniques to communicate more clearly, ensuring your guidance is better understood and followed while making your time with them more focused and effective .
LIORA is not here to stand between you and your patient, but to stand alongside you. We recognize that today’s healthcare system strains clinicians and leaves patients struggling to process complex information. Our advocates help bridge that gap by strengthening communication and fostering a more collaborative partnership.
Our goal is the same as yours: creating better healthcare experiences for women within a system that often falls short.
Even if you’re not ready to become a member or advocate, you can still support our mission! Visit our Resources and Real Talk pages to share your story, and follow us on social media to engage with our content and help spread the word to others who might benefit from LIORA’s services.
